We’re working with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, to build an easy-to-use map for traveling to and navigating inside all Forest Preserve trails via computer, tablet or mobile device.
The application is being built on two pieces of source code: Trailsy and Trailsy Server, both of which were pioneered by our partner, Code for America. All of the data used to power the site will be open for all and will conform to the OpenTrails specification, modified for data types not in the existing specification.
Consultant Josh Kalov is the main developer of this project and it is being managed for Smart Chicago by Kyla Williams.
