The installation of new computers comes at the same time that NLEI becomes an active member of Connect Chicago, a network of more than 250 places in the city where Internet and computer access, digital skills training, and online learning resources are available for free.
According to a 2009 study commissioned by the City of Chicago, as many as 40 percent of the city’s residents do not have home broadband access. Public computer centers such as NLEI and public libraries become essential resources for employment, training and educational opportunities. NLEI and Connect Chicago are helping close this gap.
The computer center at NLEI is open Monday through Friday except on holidays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A personal photo I.D. card is required for access. For more information, call NLEI at (773) 247-0707.
