At this week’s OpenGov Hack Night, Benjamin Sugar came down to talk to us about CivicLab.
The Civiclab.us is a co-working and community organizing space in the near west side neighborhood. Sugar, who co-founded Civiclab along with Tom Tresser, spoke about the philosophy behind civic lab and the need for the space.
The CivicLab offers a variety of classes as well as a space for co-workers. The co-working space isn’t limited to just activists – the Civiclab is also open for anyone.
CivicLab also leads a number of different projects. The most visible of these is the TIF Illumination Project which highlights the issue of TIFs and the data regarding TIFs.
