Code for America believes government can work for the people, by the people in the 21st century. They build open source technology and organize a network of people dedicated to making government services simple, effective, and easy to use.
The Smart Chicago Collaborative helped write the application for Chicago to become a Code for America city as well as funded this project from the start. Additionally, Smart Chicago has helped support the work of the Code for America brigade by sending Chicago Brigade Captain Christopher Whitaker to the Code for America Summit and helping to fund events. Smart Chicago has sponsored a number of Chicagoans to attend the Code for America Summit including Derek Eder, Josh Kalov, and Christopher Whitaker. Additionally, our work with the Illinois OpenTech Challenge helped to provide a proof of concept for Code for America’s Midwest Brigade Pilot.
